Patient Safety Advisor​​

​Michele Tracanna, MSN, RN, is a patient safety advisor with the Patient Safety Authority, serving the southeastern region of Pennsylvania.

Tracanna obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Widener University in 2010 and began her professional nursing career in the emergency department at Riddle Hospital, part of the Main Line Health system. She obtained her master’s degree in healthcare administration from Villanova University in 2016. 

Throughout her career at Main Line Health, she held several roles, including staff nurse; clinical coordinator; nursing supervisor; and, most recently, the patient safety and risk manager at Bryn Mawr Hospital. In the latter role​, Tracanna focused on promoting patient safety through education, reviewing adverse advents, and assisting in implementation of patient safety action plans for the system. Tracanna fostered a “just culture” environment, which helped increase the volume and quality of event reporting. 

As a patient safety advisor, Tracanna collaborates with healthcare professionals and advocates for patients by improving and promoting patient safety.​
