Kelly Gipson is a project manager with the Patient Safety Authority (PSA). She started with PSA as a patient safety liaison for the South Central region of Pennsylvania. In this role she has been involved with initiatives to decrease patient harm, such as education, webinar development, consultation, onsite observations, Patient Safety Advisory article development, and incorporation of the patient voice into the PSA’s work. Prior to joining the PSA, she worked as the associate patient safety officer at WellSpan York Hospital. In that position she was involved in many multidisciplinary initiatives to improve safety culture such as alarm management, root cause analysis, Just Culture, education, falls, No Pass Zone, and safety event analysis. Her clinical background includes medical/surgical, critical care, and recovery room. During her clinical experience, Gipson participated on and chaired multiple hospitalwide shared decision-making committees. She is a cum laude graduate from York College of Pennsylvania. She is a Certified Professional in Patient Safety, certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt in Healthcare, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International.
