Mayank Amin, PharmD, has over 10 years of experience as a pharmacist, educator, mentor, and influencer, and is dedicated to finding solutions to everyday problems and motivating others to pursue their passions. As the owner and chief patient advocate of Skippack Pharmacy, he reopened a longtime community pharmacy that was shuttered by a large chain and transformed it into a patient-centered hub for health and wellness. Amin is also a community leader and an event planner who is driven by his passion to serve. He orchestrated one of the largest COVID-19 vaccine clinic and testing programs in Pennsylvania, administering more than 100,000 vaccines and tests. He is actively involved in the growth, operation, and innovation of changing the pharmacy model to offer more patient-based programs, addressing gaps in care, and changing patient behaviors of how they view their pharmacy. He is eager to contribute his thoughts and knowledge to news outlets, advisory boards, committees, publications, podcasts, and community outreach endeavors that share similar goals. Amin was appointed to the Board by the governor to fill the position of pharmacist, pursuant to MCARE Act Section 303(b)(5).
Daniel Feinberg, MD, has been serving as chief medical officer at Pennsylvania Hospital since October 2010 and holds the appointment of professor of Clinical Neurology at Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. After completing undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Feinberg received his medical degree at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. He completed his neurology training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine - Montefiore Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in neuromuscular disorders at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Feinberg previously served as patient safety officer and medical director of Clinical Informatics at Pennsylvania Hospital and as the physician champion for the implementation of Epic as the inpatient electronic medical record at Penn Medicine. Prior to becoming CMO at Pennsylvania Hospital, he served as corporate vice president for Clinical Excellence at Catholic Health East, overseeing patient safety and quality for the 34-hospital health system. Dr. Feinberg was appointed to the Board by the governor to fill the position of a healthcare worker, employed by a hospital pursuant to MCARE Act Section 303(b)(6).
Samuel “Buddy” Hammerman, MD, is executive vice president and chief medical officer for Select Medical, the largest inpatient provider of post-intensive care unit (ICU) care in the United States. Over the past decade, he has led multiple initiatives by partnering with clinical and quality teams to reduce hospital-acquired conditions, including pressure injuries, Clostridioides difficile (C. diff), catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), and central line–associated blood stream infections (CLABSI), across 105 hospitals. He has developed and implemented innovative clinical and rehabilitative pathways to support functional recovery of patients suffering from medical and traumatic injuries. In addition, he has led efforts to actively participate at key critical care society meetings, with presentations at the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), and CHEST recently published an article from him and his team about long-term acute care hospitals extending ICU capacities for COVID-19 response and recovery.
A practicing pulmonary and critical care physician, Dr. Hammerman is an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and an assistant professor at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, and his master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Boston University Medical Center. A frequent lecturer and published author, Dr. Hammerman is a member of the American Hospital Association Committee on Clinical Leadership, SCCM, ATS, and past governor (Commonwealth of Pennsylvania) of the American College of Chest Physicians. Before joining Select Medical in 2013, he was director of pulmonary and critical care medicine for Geisinger Health System. Dr. Hammerman was appointed to the Board by the governor to fill the position of a commonwealth resident healthcare worker, pursuant to MCARE Act Section 303(b)(6).
Lynn Kornblau, Esq., president of Jeff Kornblau Partners for Patient Advocacy (JKPAA), founded JKPPA to address the ever-increasing need for patient advocacy and equal access to good healthcare resources. Along with her late husband, Jeff, Kornblau served as managing principal of Kornblau & Kornblau PC for more than 25 years. She has represented thousands of individuals who suffered injuries from unsafe conditions and products, or from oversights in taking necessary measures to keep people safe. In that capacity, she developed a passion for assisting her clients in facing life and healthcare challenges and honed her skills in patient advocacy. As a medical malpractice trial attorney, Kornblau has lectured to trial attorneys and pharmaceutical representatives on medical and product liability issues facing consumers and how litigation can be used as a vehicle for making changes to improve patient safety. Kornblau is a member of the bars of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and Supreme Court of New Jersey, the United States District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, New Jersey Association for Justice, and the Philadelphia Bar Association. She serves as judge pro tempore of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County. In the past she has served on the board of Congregation Tifereth Israel in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She is a member of JK Hospitality LLC, which operates the Golden Corral restaurant in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Kornblau was appointed by the Governor pursuant to MCARE Act Section 303(b)(7).
Heidi McMullan, MSN, RN-BC, CPHQ, is an accomplished healthcare leader with over two decades of experience in nursing administration and psychiatric-mental healthcare. She holds a Master of Science in nursing degree earned magna cum laude from Alvernia University, where she also completed her Bachelor of Science in nursing through the RN to BSN program. McMullan began her nursing career with a diploma from The Reading Hospital School of Nursing (now Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences). Currently serving as the chief nursing officer and senior director of Behavioral Health Network at WellSpan Philhaven, McMullan provides strategic leadership and oversight for nursing practice. Dedicated to fostering professional growth among staff members, McMullan is committed to implementing best practices while cultivating a supportive organizational culture. She engages in building connections with professional nursing organizations to enhance collaborative opportunities and promote excellence in healthcare. McMullan’s career has been marked by a commitment to safety and quality improvement. She previously served as the patient safety officer at WellSpan Philhaven, overseeing regulatory activities and implementing strategies to enhance patient care and safety protocols. Throughout her career, McMullan has presented at numerous conferences and seminars, and has peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from patient safety to behavioral healthcare. Her dedication to advancing nursing practice and commitment to patient-centered care is demonstrated through volunteering with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Role Delineation Panel member and test item writer. As part of her passion for mental health advocacy, McMullan volunteers her time on various committees and councils, including the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) Recovery Council Steering Committee. McMullan was appointed to the Board by the Governor to fill the position designated for a nurse pursuant to MCARE Act Section 303(b)(4).
Dr. Amelia Paré is a board certified plastic surgeon, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is a past president of the Allegheny Medical Society and recently served as a board member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
Dr. Paré began her career at Harvard University, where she completed her pre-med studies, and majored in Chemistry (under advisor Dudley Herschbach, a Nobel laureate). While at Harvard, she became a varsity rower and spent a summer studying at Oxford University in England. She received her medical degree from Hahnemann/Drexel University Medical School in Philadelphia. After med school, Dr. Paré spent five years training at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, University Hospital of Columbia University College of Physicians in New York City, where she served as chief resident in General Surgery.
Following residency, she began her two-year specialty training in Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. After receiving her certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery, she entered private practice. Dr. Paré has privileges at UPMC and Highmark facilities in the Pittsburgh area.
Dr. Paré was appointed to the Board by the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives to fill the position of a resident of the Commonwealth pursuant to MCARE Act Section 303(b)(2).
Eric H. Weitz, Esq., is a trial attorney based in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has a nationwide practice representing individuals in a wide variety of complex matters. Mr. Weitz believes strongly in serving the legal profession and his community. Mr. Weitz is an active member in many national and local organizations. He was elected to serve a three-year term on the Board of Governors for the Philadelphia Bar Association and he currently serves as vice-chairman of that board. Mr. Weitz serves on the Board of Governors for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (formerly known as the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers) and he currently serves on the executive committee. For twelve consecutive years, Mr. Weitz has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer by Law and Politics magazine and Philadelphia Magazine, including being named among the Top 100 in Pennsylvania and Top 100 in Philadelphia for 2011 through 2017. He received his undergraduate degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, where he was awarded a bachelor of science, cum laude, in Television, Radio, and Film Management. Mr. Weitz received his juris doctorate, cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law. Mr. Weitz was appointed to the Board by the Speaker of the House of Representatives pursuant to MCARE Act Section 303(b)(2).
William J. Wenner, Jr., MD is the Director of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Clinical Service for the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Dr. Wenner received his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine and was trained in pediatrics at Stanford University Hospital in California. He completed his pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition training at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Publishing over 40 articles and books, he has practiced at the University of California Davis and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for almost 20 years. He has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Wenner joined Penn State Children's Hospital in 2008. Dr. Wenner was appointed to the Board by the Governor to fill the position of a healthcare worker who is a physician pursuant to MCARE Act Section 303(b)(3).
