Katie Vivian is an Infection Prevention Analyst for the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority. In her role at the Authority, Katie assists with the improvement of patient safety by initiating, developing, implementing, and monitoring new and existing infection prevention initiatives throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Authority, Katie has a background in Rehabilitation Nursing, Community Health Nursing and was an Infection Prevention Program Specialist for several years at a 450-bed acute care hospital. During her time as an Infection Preventionist, Katie has created and taught education on Infection Prevention and conducted analysis on Healthcare Associated Infections. Katie has lead team collaboratives aimed at reducing Healthcare Associated Infections and improvement of patient safety including extensive work with Environmental Services and NICU and lead an organizational collaborative on C. difficile.
Katie is a 2003 graduate of Conemaugh School of Nursing. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Mt. Aloysius College. She is a green belt in Lean Six Sigma and is board-certified in infection control and epidemiology (CIC). Katie is also a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Prevention (APIC) and is a member of the Three Rivers Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology.
