Description:
Carl J. Benson, MS, retired advisory engineer at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory and periodic lecturer at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Pittsburgh, will describe a "wrong patient event" based on an article published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, perform a short small group exercise to the root cause(s) of the event, discuss organizational aspects of the "wrong patient event" and how it can be linked to the theory of a culture of low expectations and structurally induced inaction, and present data regarding the frequency of "wrong patient events."
 
1.0 continuing education hours will be awarded for completion of this course. Continuing education credits apply to Pennsylvania registered nurses only.
